How can scenery reflects a person’s inner struggle?

Every summer, the professor stays at his apartment by a waterlily lake for writing. This year, his mind is troubled by his affection for a student. He has no clue how to react to her. Alone in agony, the tropical waterlilies outside his window catch his eyes, it seems that they have something to tell him, but they are so far away on the water.

Eventually, the professor couldn’t resist the desire of reaching for the flower and dissolves into his novel……
