TIANYI HONG
Tianyi Hong is an independent theatre maker born in 1996 in Beijing, China.
With a background of Chinese Language and literature at Beijing Normal University (BA) and MA in Advanced Theatre Practice at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, she mainly works as a theatre director, playwright and dramaturg. Her works tackle with the absurdity of contemporary life, featuring dreamlike scenarios, imaginary landscape and a touch of nature. She sees theatre as a shelter from the cracked reality that transforms absurdity into fantasy.
Recently, she is interested in the practice of performing landscape and the apocalyptic narration of Anthropocene, believing the ecology of the performed landscape should be of revelations to how we could live strategically and sustainably in our problematic real world.
